Southwestern University Summer Law Programme

2010 Annual Southwestern Summer Law Programme

Once again the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy, in partnership with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, Vancouver, Canada, and Southwestern Law School, Los Angeles, California, is hosting a four week summer law programme in Vancouver, from May 30 - June 30, 2010. This is the 18th consecutive year that this programme has been running.

The programme is aimed at allowing the students to gain an appreciation of the differences between the Canadian and American legal systems, as well as to promote the development of greater cooperation between the students and faculty members in solving common problems in criminal justice and international law.

In addition to coursework, students are given the opportunity to interact with distinguished members of the Canadian bench and bar. They can also take advantage of a variety of field excursions and social events. In the past years, students have visited the B.C. Law Courts, private law firms, the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, and the Crown Counsel’s office, among other places.

The Greedy Associates/Findlaw blog puts the Southwestern Summer Law Programme in the top 10 of their list of the most captivating law programs for Summer 2010. Please see 39 Captivating Law School Study Abroad Programs in 2010.
